Symbiosis
A Queer Nature Connection Group
In Fall 2026, please join me in a nature connection group for LGBT+ people! Inspired by the mutually beneficial (symbiotic) relationships that vast, underground mycorrhizal networks share with trees, this group sets out to locate us in the existing ecosystem: as people who can care for and receive care from the world around us, not just extract from it, and as people whose queerness and experiences of gender and sexuality and asexuality are solidly embedded in the natural world, not as people who are “unnatural.”
This is a support group and will draw from ecotherapy practices. Over the course of six sessions, we will discuss our existing relationships with the natural world, deepen our connection, explore our experiences of ecocide and climate change, and identify ways to weave ourselves more intentionally in with mycorrhizae, tree roots, and other beings who make up the natural world. While participants will always be welcome to opt out of suggested activities, much of this group will rely on guided meditations, journaling/drawing/reflecting, and discussion.
Here are the logistics:
Virtual, open to LGBT+ people in any location.
Six sessions, each on a Tuesday from 5:30–7 PM EST: September 8th and 22nd, October 6th and 20th, November 3rd and 17th, and December 1st as a back-up date in case a session needs to be canceled.
This group will run with at least four fee-paying participants and no more than eight total participants.
Four fee options: $50 for people who have little wiggle room financially, $75 for people who have some wiggle room, $100 for people for whom that fee is not a financial strain, and up to two reparations spots for BIPOC. All paying participants will be asked to pay for the full series by 8/31 if possible; for people for whom that is not possible, the ask will be to pay for half of the series by 8/31 and the other half by 10/31.
Half of my profits from this group will go to an Indigenous-led organization or group supporting the natural world. This reflects my personal commitment to care for the natural world and to supporting Indigenous sovereignty. For paying participants of the group, this is a commitment that you will enter into for the duration of the group by virtue of your payment. In our last group session, we will explore commitments you may want to make around connection and relationship with the natural world; protection of or advocacy for the natural world; and/or reparations.
